Through our partnership with Education Connection, we’re tackling school dropout rates by strengthening early literacy - giving volunteers the chance to change a child’s life in just 30 minutes a week through one-on-one reading support.
Serve as a Literacy Partner (aka Reading Buddy)
The Hope Center is proud to be partnering with Education Connection to tackle one of the most pressing educational issues in the Greater Austin area: school dropout rates.
Research has shown a critical link between early literacy and future academic success: Children not reading at grade level by the end of 3rd grade are four times more likely to drop out of school. Through Education Connection, you can directly contribute to minimizing this trend.
We are looking for dedicated volunteers to commit just 30 minutes a week to a one-on-one reading session with an elementary school student. Just think about it…you have the opportunity to change a child’s life in just 30 minutes a week!
How To Get Started

Make a 30 minute weekly commitment to serve during the school year.
2.
Register now at education-connection.org for the Lago Vista school district, and the training session of your choice.
3.
Begin recruiting your friends, neighbors, and co-workers to join us!
